Congratulations are in order. And because this is the first entry of my new blog, that no one is reading, I will congratulate myself. Auguri! Mazal tov! Felicidades! ......for I am finally listening and taking action.
Vincent Van Gogh once stated, "If you hear a voice within you say 'you cannot paint,' then by all means paint and that voice will be silenced."
I read this quote exactly five years ago.
And guess what? I DO want to paint.....and draw, but the little voice inside inside me had been saying 'you are not good enough' which can be translated as 'you cannot paint.' Ladies and Gentlemen, I introduce to you a very slow learner. It has taken me this long to realize that my excuses and inaction have literally led me.....nowhere. What? This stagnation was going to lead to some serious regret!
I must act now, and I have a bit of catching up to do!
started this website, claiming my stake in the art world as a valid
contributor. Tomorrow, I will paint. If anyone has heard the adage,
'when the student is ready, the teacher will appear,' they might be
interested to know that for me, several appeared as soon as I was ready
to listen. So let me take this opportunity to thank the boys over at The Nerdist Podcast
(Chris Hardwick, Jonah Ray and Matt Mira) for encouraging me and anyone
else holding back on their dreams to just get out there and start something.
Listening to the personal stories of these boys and their guests on how
they tackled their own personal demons in the name of passion is
encouraging and absolutely addicting. They have all tried, failed,
adjusted, learned, triumphed, adjusted again, and are still at
it. (The process doesn't seem as scary as I had made it out to be.) I have listened to every episode, 300
something and counting. Crazy, no? I also thank my partner, Mr.
Brown, for introducing me to The Nerdist. We are both fans, and cite examples from the podcast to support each others individual pursuits. I am an artsy, fashion nerd-who knew?
