Julie Ann is a native Californian who was born with an internal compass, allowing her to wander about the planet freely. She hails from the fog, lives in the desert, and is always trying to 'see what her eye can see.' She earned her BFA in Fashion Design at Otis College of Art in Los Angeles. Her fashion designs have been featured in many publications including Elle, Harpers Bazaar, Genlux, Cosmopolitan, Lou Lou, Foam, and Ocean Drive.  When not designing she spends her free time dancing, taking pictures and making art.

" My greatest creative strength has always been rooted in visual inaccuracies-my brain often sees something that isn't actually there-which can be scary and delightful at the same time."

Although digitally savvy, she still starts most projects with a pencil and a blank piece of paper.  'Drawing is so immediate and mobile. I never have to find a battery charger for my pencil.'  She loves to draw women and has been profoundly influenced by the works of René Gruau, Alphonse Mucha, Alberto Vargas, Toulouse Lautrec and Ruben Toledo.

A few years ago, she opened a photography studio in her home, Feeling Famous Studios, where she re creates Old Hollywood style photographs for women of all ages. "I prefer to work with older women because their beauty is often overlooked by our society." She loves to orchestrate all the sets, costumes, props, hair and makeup to get just the right look for each client.

She recently created a new art piece called '#Shedaredto for the Riverside Art Museum as part of the 52 Project. It is a collection of photographs that  she created in her studio to represent different eras of the 20th century that were important milestones towards women's equality. You can search the hashtag #shedaredto and find the imagery on Instagram and Facebook.
